How does QR code check-in work?
The process consists of four steps:
- QR code generation: Once booking is complete, the ticketing system generates a unique, encrypted QR code for each ticket and attendee.
- Delivery: The QR code is sent via email as a PDF ticket.
- Scan at entry: Check-in staff scan the QR code using a smartphone or barcode scanner. The app verifies the code against the database in real time.
- Validation & feedback: Green signal = valid and admitted. Red signal = invalid, already scanned, or wrong event. If applicable, badge printing is triggered immediately. You are alerted to missing documentation or payments. If desired, you can block check-in and have the issue resolved at a special counter.
Security and tamper protection
- Uniqueness: Each QR code is linked to a unique ticket ID – copies are flagged as "already used" upon a second scan.
- Encryption: QR codes contain no readable personal data, only encrypted tokens that can only be decrypted by the system.
- Anti-duplicate scan protection: The system prevents the same ticket from being used for entry multiple times.
