How does QR code check-in work?
The process consists of four steps:
- QR code generation: Once the booking is complete, the ticketing system generates a unique, encrypted QR code for each ticket and attendee.
- Delivery: The QR code is sent via email as a PDF ticket.
- Scanning at the entrance: Check-in staff scan the QR code using a smartphone or barcode scanner. The app verifies the code against the database in real time.
- Validation & feedback: Green signal = valid and admitted. Red signal = invalid, already scanned, or wrong event. If necessary, badge printing is triggered immediately. Missing documentation or payments are flagged. If desired, you can block the check-in and have it resolved at a special service counter.
Security and anti-counterfeiting
- Uniqueness: Each QR code is linked to a unique ticket ID – copies will be marked as "already used" upon the second scan.
- Encryption: QR codes do not contain readable personal data, but rather encrypted tokens that only the system can decrypt.
- Anti-passback protection: The system prevents the same ticket from being used for entry multiple times.
